DECORATION GUIDELINES

The grounds are sacredly devoted to the memory of the deceased and all visitors are requested to observe all rules and conduct themselves in a manner becoming a place so dedicated. Oakland encourages the use of decorations for loved ones. To ensure the proper maintenance and care of the cemetery we ask that you abide by the following rules:

  1. Pine Lawn, Sunset Hill and Laurel Ridge:
    • Because these gardens are memorial gardens, only cut flowers on the memorial and memorial vases will be allowed. At no time should any pots or plants be left on the ground or the memorial.

  2. All other gardens:
    • Artificial or cut flowers in the memorial vase or on the memorial. Or potted plants and artificial arrangements on the memorial or the shepherd hook.
    • NOTE: All shepherd hooks should be placed close to and on the side of the memorial. At no time should they be placed in front of or behind the memorial.

  3. EXCEPTIONS: All other decorations: sprays, cones, wood objects, plastic,and items on wire stands will be permitted for Holidays and temporary adornment. Our holiday season is from Mother’s Day until July 4th. We will “clean-up” every 2 to 3 weeks using our best judgment.

No glass pottery, or other statuary is allowed at any time. No planting of any sort is allowed at any time. These regulations are for ensuring the best possible maintenance of the grounds. We want you to be able to memorialize your loved ones in the best conditions possible.

BI-ANNUAL CLEAN UP:

Every time we mow or trim the grounds are inspected for any faded, wilted, or unsightly decorations. These items will be removed using our best discretion. In addition, all seasonal items will be removed March 1st and November 1st or after the notice is posted in the local newspaper.

Flags are placed & removed by veterans for the Memorial Day weekend.
The veterans remove all flags, be sure to remove any you wish to keep.
