On Monday I went to Oakland Cemetery to place flowers on loved ones’ graves. What a pleasant experience to see the cemetery looking so good, and so many people doing the same thing. The new owners were also happy to see so many there doing what we do.

My experience this weekend was a surprise. I visited Oakland Cemetery and couldn’t believe the change. I could get water for the first time in four years, and all the grass was mowed. They were even starting to repave the roads. Whoever the new owner is, I am glad he has respect for my relatives’ gravesites.


EDITOR’S NOTE: The new owner of Oakland Cemetery and Mausoleum is Saber Management. The company’s president is David Sullivan. Since buying the cemetery 10 weeks ago, Saber Management has resurfaced the road, removed leaves and dirt piles that were left next to gravesites, trimmed hedges, removed trash, worked on the maintenance garage and improved the property’s drainage system. Scott Jenkins is the cemetery’s Maintenance manager.
