Obituary for Nadine M. Cable (Matthews)

Nadine M. Cable, 86, of Freeport, died Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at her home. Born January 24, 1928, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; she was the daughter of Walter L. and Chloe (Trotter) Matthews. She married John Cable May 6, 1949, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; he died April 24, 2009. Nadine was an administrative assistant for WCEE Channel 23 and then went on to pioneer Cable TV in the Rockford area. She was an active member of First Free Methodist Church where she held many positions in the church, and was a volunteer for the Voices program, and was a Poling Precinct Judge. Surviving is her son,Steven Cable of Bolingbrook; 3 daughters, Janette (Harry) Benoit of Freeport, Jennifer (John) Meiborg of Green Lake, Wisconsin and Julie Woehler of Rockford; 5 grandchildren; 1- great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 sisters; 2 brothers. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, December 29, 2014, at First Free Methodist Church, with Reverend Don Jamerson officiating. Entombment will be in the Oakland Cemetery & Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Monday until time of service a the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for First Free Methodist Church
