Obituary for Haldor J. "Hal" Boettner

Haldor J. Boettner, 92, of Freeport, died Monday, June 8, 2015, at his home. Born October 17, 1922 in Woodbine he was the son of Henry and Amanda (Hartwig) Boettner. He married Esther Mae Branthaver October 18, 1945. He was a tool & die maker working at Micro Switch Company 34 years retiring in 1986. Hal was a WWII U.S. Navy Veteran. His memberships included, Bethany United Church of Christ, American Legion, and Forty & Eight. Surviving are his wife, Esther of Freeport: 1 daughter, Pamela (David) Conway of St. Paul, Minnesota, Matthew (Denise)Ohrt of Kaukauna, Wisconsin, Amanda Boettner of Lake Villa, and Cory Boetner of Freeport; 6 great Grandchildren, Callie Ohrt, Hannah, Lincoln, and Grace Ohrt, Brandon Wilhelms, and Maddux Boettner; 1 brother, Henry Boettner of Freeport. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 sister, Alberta; 1 brother, LaVerne. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Bethany United Church of Christ. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until time of service Thursday at Bethany United Church of Christ. A memorial has been established in his name.
