Obituary for Betty J. Mogle (Wienand)

Betty J. Mogle passed away peacefully on September 30, 2014. Betty was born August 1, 1920, to William Wienand and Edith Toelle in Freeport, IL. Betty was awarded the Spanish Cup for excellence in her Spanish class at Freeport High School, from which she graduated in 1938. After high school she started working for Micro Switch and worked various positions for 12 years, when she was promoted and became the first executive secretary at the company. Betty worked for multiple presidents at Micro over the next 34 years, until her retirement in 1984. She once commented that she must have had the most interesting job in Freeport. Betty married Glen Mogle in 1950, and had 2 sons, Douglas and Stephen, who died tragically in an accident in 1986. Betty enjoyed playing bridge, shopping, traveling and spending time with her family and never complained when dragged along for many fishing trips with husband, Glen, over the years. No family ever had a more devoted and unselfish wife and mother. Like many Freeporters she was a long suffering Cubs fan. Betty was preceded in death by Glen in 2013, and survived by son, Doug (Regina), grandson, Colin, Baothers, Bill (Delores), Greg (Barbara), and sister, Delores.
