ELNORA L. BECKMEIER, 92 FREEPORT - Elnora L. Beckmeier, 92, of Freeport died at home on Tuesday, January 5, 2016. Born December 16, 1923, in Rock Run Township, she was the daughter of Frederick and Mary (Passet) Beckmeier. She worked at Contel of Illinois Telephone Company for 22 years. She also worked at Verizon, Kraft Foods and Fairbanks Morse. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Freeport. She was a past trustee of the church and also a life member of the Independent Telephone Pioneer Association. She is survived by her lifelong friend, Jean Stimpert of Freeport; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, William and Donald Beckmeier; her twin sister, Eldora Bardell; 3 nieces; and 2 nephews. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 8, 2016, at Trinity United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Friday until time of service.
