Tammy L. Jansen 1963—2016
Tammy L. Jansen, 52, of Dakota, died Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at FHN Memorial Hospital. Tammy was born November 19, 1963, in Freeport, daughter of Richard and Eileen (Curry) Hessenius. She married David W. Jansen on April 16, 2010, in the Dominican Republic on the beach. Tammy worked in the photo lab at Wal-Mart for 17 years. Tammy enjoyed riding motorcycles, bowling, planting flowers, holidays, parties, watching the Cooking Channel and movies, especially Cars with her favorite character Towmater. Her grandkids were a huge part of her life. Surviving is her husband, David Jansen of Dakota; sons, Ryan (Ingrid) Garrett and grandson, Hunter of Bloomington and Josh Garrett of Freeport; three step-children, Hope (Derek Elgin) Huff and granddaughter, Abigail of Dakota, Heath (Kate) Jansen and granddaughters, Bella and Sophia of Freeport, and Hans (Shelby Mcanally) Jansen and grandson, Walter of Dakota; sister, Sherry Thiel of Freeport and her children, Chris (Becky) Thiel and their children, Bella, Maddie, Kenzie; and Jennifer (Donald Krakliow) Thiel and their children Andrew and Ellania; father in-law, Paul (Jan Welch) Jansen; mother-in-law, Marlene (Al) Crase; brother in-law, Dennis (Pam) Jansen; sister in-law, Brenda (Dean) Bowers; step-sister, Deanna (Dennis) Penick of Freeport; step-brothers, Timothy Sofran of Tampa, Florida and Jerry Sofran of Rockford. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and former husband, Roger Garrett of Freeport. Preceded in death by her parents and stepmother, Joyce Hessenius.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 25, 2016, at Park Hills Evangelical Free Church. Pastor Mark Balmer will officiate. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Leonard Ferguson Cancer Center.
