Obituary for
Ervin W Edler
Shannon, Ill. — Ervin W. Edler, 88, of Shannon died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010, at Freeport Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
He was born Jan. 29, 1922, a son of Edward and Nora (Dorty) Edler, in the same home he has lived all of his life. He was a graduate of Shannon High School. Ervin married Melrose B. Peacock on Sept. 27, 1949, in Freeport.
Mr. Edler was a lifelong farmer and member of Zion Community Church.
Surviving are one son, Mark (Colleen) Edler of Pearl City; one daughter, Cindy Edler of Rantoul; six grandchildren, Kelly Edler, Kari (Tim) Gitz, Cody Edler, Eric Edler, Douglas Piper and Brian Piper; two great-grandchildren, Juliana and James Piper; and two sisters, Vera Wubbena of Lanark and Iva Krahmer of Lena.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Melrose on Dec. 24, 1985; his parents; one brother, Howard; his sisters, Lula Gerdes, Elvira Gerdes, Myrna Perry and Opal Rogers.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 2010, at Zion Community Church near Pearl City with the Rev. Diane Jochum officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, at Hermann Funeral Home in Pearl City.
A memorial fund has been established in his memory.
Arrangements are being handled by Offenheiser-Schwarz Funeral Home
