Obituary for Kenneth R. Ils





Kenneth R. Ils, 59, passed away on April 28, 2011, at his mother’s home. Kenneth was born on July 8, 1951, in Freeport, to Theodore and Doris (Breitkreutz) Ils. He married Ann McCauley on June 23, 1971. Ken then married Teresa (Buntjer) on May 26, 1978. She preceded him in death on Sept. 19, 2009. Kenneth farmed his whole life and worked for Stephenson Service Company FS for over 20 years.

Kenneth was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ and the Freeport Moose Lodge. He enjoyed singing, dancing, being outdoors, motorcycle riding, camping, and tractor pulls.

Kenneth is survived by his four children, Ken Rosebrook of Alabama, Dave Rosebrook of Argyle, Wis., Jason Whitmer of Lena, and Janiece (James) Bass of Lena; six grandchildren, Jeffrey, Matthew, Austton, Makayla Rosebrook, Makenzie, and Hailey Whitmer; his mother, Doris Ils of Lena; two sisters, Mary (Rodney) Birchen of Pearl City and Pam (Jeff) Grothe of Camarillo, Calif.; a brother, Hank (LuAnn) Ils of Pearl City; and a special friend, Terri Munz of Monroe, Wis.

He was preceded in death by his wife; father; and two brothers, Howard and Edwin Ils.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 3, at the Salem United Church of Christ in Lena.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 2, at the Leamon Funeral Home in Lena. The Rev. Randall Nicholas will officiate the service. Entombment will be at the Oakland Cemetery Mausoleum in Freeport.

A memorial fund has been established in his memory.
