Obituary for Elvira N. Miller (Sack)


Elvira N. Miller, 105, of Freeport, died Friday, January 4, 2013 at Provena St. Joseph’s Home.
Elvira was born on December 10, 1907 in Ideal, IL., the daughter of George and Sophia (Mohrman) Sack. Elvira married George Miller on June 29, 1931 in Polo, IL. Mr. Miller died on Jan 2, 1985.
Elvira attended Savanna Schools and was a graduate of Rockford School of Beauty Culture. She worked for W.T. Rawleigh Co., Clark’s Bakery and Micro Switch. She was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church of Christ. She was a 50-year member of the Eastern Star.
Elvira is survived by several nieces and nephews including Norma (Jack) Parriott of Freeport, Carol (Jerry) Larson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Joyce (Oscar) Fritch of Monroe.
Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers, and four sisters.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 8, at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport. Rev. Donnley Dutcher, pastor of Saint John United Church of Christ, will officiate.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services at Burke-Tubbs. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery.
