Obituary for Larry R. Robinson


Larry R. Robinson, 82, of Freeport died Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at his home.
Born November 7, 1930 at Macomb, he was the son of Fred and Bernice (Cason) Robinson. He was a graduate of Galesburg High School. On October 8, 1949 he and Lola Lucille Thurman were united in marriage in Macomb.
Larry served in the United States Army for 20 years, serving in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. After retiring from the Army he worked for a VA Hospital in California as a Clerk in the Emergency Room. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and the Shannon Bethel United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife of Freeport; four daughters, Janet Wasson of Rockford, Joan (Sal) Leotta of New Jersey, Brigitte (Raymond) Kloepping of Pearl City, and Tina (Ralph) Ebany of Machesney Park; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two brothers-in-law, Laverne Thurman and Donald (Frances) Thurman, both of Abingdon.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Wendell and Wilford; sister, Donna Mather; infant daughter, Beatrice Ann; infant son, Ricky Lee; granddaughter, Alicia Wasson; and son-in-law, Alex Wasson.
Visitation will be Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Peace at Oakland Cemetery and Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
