Joyce E. Raab, age 77, passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at her home when she lost her battle with cancer; she was surrounded by her family.
She was born on August 23, 1935 in Orangeville, IL to Alfred and Ruth (Phillips) Niesman. She moved to Arizona in 1976 and then moved to California in the early ‘90s. In 1996 she moved back to the Lena area. She worked in retail in Arizona for 10 years.
She is survived by 1 son, Dwaine (Sandra) Raab of Chandler, AZ.; 2 daughters, Theresa Raab-Feavel of Freeport, IL and Denise (Bill) Goodman of Freeport, IL; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Alvin (Lois) Niesman of Lena, IL; and 1 sister, Lola (James) Stake of St. Petersberg, FL.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at the Leamon Funeral Home.
Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Oakland Cemetery and Mausoleum.
Luncheon will be held following the memorial service at the First Church of the Nazarene at 125 E. Empire St. in Freeport, IL.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
