Obituary for Marvel C. Brodnick

Marvel Corinne Brodnick May 7, 1922 - March 9, 2015 CLEARWATER, FL - Marvel Brodnick was born on a farm in North Dakota in 1922. Graduated high school in Grand Forks, North Dakota And went to the University of North Dakota, where she graduated with a degree in journalism in 1944. She moved to Chicago and while working for the local newspaper where she took pictures of returning servicemen from WWII, she met Roy Brodnick who she married in 1949. They moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota and Marvel gave birth to 3 boys, Greg, Scott and Dean. The family moved to Freeport, IL in 1956, when Roy took a job with Micro Switch. Marvel was active in PEO, garden club, and started the Newell company newsletter, The Newell Post. In 1977, Roy took a job in Brookfield, Connecticut with Berol where they lived for 25 years. Marvel was very involved in the church and PEO, and she loved to spend time china painting and sewing. Marvel had a command of the English language and utilized her journalism degree to entertain her family and friends with her story telling and well crafted letters. In 2002, Marvel and Roy located to Rockford, IL to be close to son, Scott, who passed away shortly after. In 2007, they moved to Clearwater, Florida to be near son, Greg and family. Marvel is survived by her sons, Greg and his wife, Debbie, and Dean and his wife, Dorothy; grandchildren, Jamie, Julia, Steven, Jacob, Erik and Haley; and great-grandson, Benjamin. Marvel left an impression on everyone she met. She was a funny, caring, amazing woman. She loved life and used her creativity in all her endeavors.
