Carl Cecil Jones departed this earthly life on Sunday, November 11, 2007 at Stephenson Nursing Center in Freeport. He was born on July 23, 1939 in Chicago to Lenora (Smith) Moore and Carl David Jones. He retired from Freeport School District 145 with 21 years of service. His hobbies included fishing, hunting and listening to his scanner. He also enjoyed spending time with his daughters, grandchildren, family members and friends. He leaves to cherish in his memory; his mother Lenora Moore; daughters Carla (Jerry) Fleming and Angela Jones (Hartman); his grandchildren Jamont, Jerry, Zachary, Jazzmine and Gabriela all of Freeport; his brothers Floyd Jones of Rockford and Marvin L. Moore of Burlington, N.J.; his uncle James C. Bradford of East Moline, IL and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Carl D. Jones, his infant son Carl C. Jones Jr., his sister Phyllis Jones-Williams and his grandparents. Funeral services will be Friday 1 p.m. at New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ, 4 E. Iroquios St. Rev. Ezell Jackson will officiate. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
