Dolores M. Johnson, 72, of Freeport died Saturday in F.H.N. Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. She was born June 17, 1936 in Rockford, Illinois the daughter of Edwin and Violet (Elfverson) Swenson. Dolores was a 1954 graduate of Rockford East High School. Dolores met her future husband while in school. She married Ronald "R.J." Johnson on January 26, 1957 in Loves Park, Illinois. He died October 2, 2000. Mrs. Johnson was a active member of First Lutheran Church of Freeport. Her memberships included W.E.L.C.A., Mary Circle, taught vacation Bilbe School and served as Sunday School Superintendent. Dolores did volunteer work for Meals on Wheels and F.A.C.C. Mrs. Johnson is survived by her daughter, Lisa Johnson of Freeport. Her sister, Joanne (Donald) Peterson of Rockford. Also nieces and nephews. Dolores is also survived by her many friends. She was preceded in daerth by her parents, husband and one brother, Richard Swenson. Funeral services will be Friday, September 5 at 11:00 A.M. in First Lutheran Church, Freeport. Rev. Kurt Hansen, pastor, will officiate. Visitation will be From 10:00 A.M. untill time of sevices at First Lutheran. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Freeport.
